The Gift of Food is the Gift of Time
We are so excited to begin coordinating meal requests from caseworkers for families that have received new foster placements. This new endeavor is called Foster Love Meal Team! Heather Bossen, will be serving as our Meal Team Coordinator. Heather is the perfect fit for this position because she and her husband, Adam, have experienced first-hand the love that a meal delivered can bring. Here’s more of Heather’s story:
“I have lived in Belton since 2005 with my husband of 19 years, Adam. Our daughters, Addie and Lucy, are both in elementary school and keep us busy with all of their sports and activities! We really love living here because of the amazing community that exists in this area. The idea for a Foster Love Meal Team came from the sheer number of people constantly asking:
"How can I help foster/adoptive families? How can we bring them a meal?"
Our youngest daughter, Lucy, joined our family through adoption in 2016. Our sweet friends provided us with meals and they were such a blessing. Those meals meant we were able to spend more time getting to know Lucy. While bonding with her, we were able to spend one-on-one time with our biological daughter and still manage all of the day-to-day things we had going on before adding a child to our family.
...The gift of food was really the gift of time together...
Those meals were an absolutely tremendous blessing to our family and the love we felt was overwhelming. Please join us as we gather together to do the same for the next family welcoming a child into their home. “
Foster Love Meal Teams will also be serving meals to foster families and children that attend our Support Group during certain times of the year. All communication will be provided through GroupMe. Volunteers must agree to group rules and sign a confidentiality agreement.
We hope that you will join us in giving these families the supportive gift of time.
